Our goal is to guide you to the most available and appropriate level of care that best fits your needs - so you can thrive in your well-being.  

If you do not have an appointment and/or are not already an established client, you can schedule an initial consultation online or by phone.

What to expect during your Initial Consultation

  • Consultations are brief and scheduled for up to 30 minutes via zoom and/or phone based on your preference 
  • During the consultation, the clinician will assess your current needs, explore with you the most available and appropriate level of care for your presenting concerns, and assist with next steps.   
  • At the end of the consultation, the clinician will explore with you next steps which could include therapy at CAPS or a referral to a campus or community partner for more specialized care.  

If you're experiencing an urgent concern and need to talk to a clinician, please know you're not alone.  

You’re welcome to drop in for an urgent appointment Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., or call 404-727-7450 anytime—24/7/365—to speak with a clinician who’s here to help.  

If you are experiencing a life-threatening emergency, call 911 or Emory Police at 404-727-6111.  

What to expect during an Urgent Appointment

Urgent appointments focus on assessing for safety and/or urgent need and creating a plan for next steps. Next steps my include scheduling a follow-up appointment at CAPS or connecting you to additional campus or community resources.

Emory University recognizes that staying emotionally and physical healthy is an important part of your academic success and overall well-being. We have expanded our mental health and medical support capacity to all Emory students, including those residing outside of Georgia, by offering virtual health services via TimelyCare. TimelyCare offers: 

  • 24/7 TalkNow services: Talk with a mental health provider anytime, anywhere. 
  • Scheduled counseling and psychiatric appointments. 
  • On-demand and scheduled medical care. 

Students have the option to schedule therapy directly with a provider at TimelyCare. To meet with a TimelyCare provider: 

  • Use your Emory email address to set up your account. 
  • Choose TalkNow for 24/7 access to a mental health provider for a one-time meeting. 
  • Choose Scheduled Counseling to meet with a mental health provider more regularly.
